[edit] History
Born into a family of four, Faith's parents were protesters against the rise of the totalitarian regime that was seeping into the City. She mentions that her parents brought their two children along to their protests and both Kate and Faith. Faith and her sister had seen their mother killed during the November Riots, crushed to death as other's sought to escape. After her mother's death her father became depressed due to guilt to the point of alcoholism. Faith tells Celeste that her father never did forgive himself for his wife's death and neither did Faith, giving away one of the main reasons she ran away. She has stated before that she was close to her sister before she ran away and still misses her at the beginning of the game.
At the age of 16, Faith left her father and sister, Kate, to live on the streets. Gradually resorting to petty thievery to survive she began robbing homes, including the Hideout of an ex-Runner named Mercury. Catching her in the act Mercury took her under his wing and trained her to work for him as a Runner. Now 24, she suffered an injury of some kind that took her out of action for a while. Returning to active status at the start of the events of Mirror's Edge.
[edit] Story
[edit] Comic
One of the Mirror's Edge comics shows a 16 year old Faith rummaging through Merc's lair with a flashlight. When she's spotted she throws a few punches before being shoved into a chair by the curious Mercury. Merc said that he didn't know and never really asked what Faith was looking for that night, but said that there was something about her that was promising.
When Merc would show up in the morning to train Faith, she would be there right in time. Merc said that while training Faith she made a lot of mistakes but never quit. This attitude was demonstrated throughout the game more times than one.
[edit] Mirror's Edge
The protagonist of the game, Faith is first seen returning to active duty after her recovery. Celeste runs her through a training course set up by Mercury, which finishes in them engaging in friendly combat. As the story continues, Faith is drawn into a web of lies and deceit surrounding her sister and the murder of a mayoral candidate, Robert Pope. Faith takes it upon herself to unravel these secrets and find out the truth in order to prove Kate's innocence. Faith discovers that Pope was killed because he discovered Project Icarus, a privately funded plan to control the Runners. She discovers also that Celeste is part of Icarus, and that it was her that killed Pope and Travis Burfield, whom Faith was interrogating at the time to learn more about Pope's murder. Eventually Faith resorts to springing Kate from a police convoy however this results in the destruction of Mercury's Hideout and the death of Mercury. Faith follows the attackers to the Shard building where she rescues Kate and presumably disrupts the progression of Project Icarus.
After the ending of the game it is announced that Faith and Kate had become wanted fugitives and were being hunted by police forces. So far they remain at large.
[edit] Trivia
- Faith was set to appear as an cameo in another Electronic Arts game, MySims Agents, but was cut from the game for unknown reasons. She is, however, available as a collectable trophy, found in the Boudreaux Mansion, behind a portrait on a wall with a picture of her.
