Faith Connors is the main protagonist, and only playable character, in Mirror's Edge. She is voiced by Jules de Jongh.

[edit] History

Faith is one of a family of four. Her parents were protesters against the rise of the totalitarian regime that now controls the City. Her mother was killed during the November Riots against the government. After the death of her mother, her father became depressed and became an alcoholic. At the age of 16, Faith left her father and sister, Kate, to live on the streets. As her life led her gradually into petty thievery, she began robbing homes, including the Hideout of an ex-Runner named Mercury. Mercury took her under his wing, and trained her to work for him as a Runner. Not long before the events of Mirror's Edge, she suffered an injury of some kind that took her out of action for a while.

[edit] In the game

Faith is the character through which all the in-game action is seen. Her first seen involvement in the plot is in the Tutorial chapter. Here, Celeste runs her through a training course set up by Mercury, which finishes in them engaging in friendly combat. As the story continues, Faith gets drawn into a web of lies and deceit surrounding her sister and the murder of a mayoral candidate, Robert Pope. Faith takes it upon herself to unravel these secrets and find out the truth in order to protect Kate from powerful, well-connected enemies. Faith discovers that Pope was killed because he discovered Project Icarus, and that they were planning to kill the runners. She discovers also that Celeste is part of Icarus, and that it was her that killed Pope and Travis Ropeburn, whom Faith was interrogating at the time to learn more about Pope's murder and why Lt Miller was there. Faith receives help in the game, not only form Merc but also from Lt Miller, whom also believes that Kate is innocent and helps her during the last level, until he is discovered by guards. With Faith now alone she continues to fight her way through the Shard Building, until she gets to the roof where she finds Kate being taken away by helicopter. However, whilst she tries to rescue her she comes face to face with Jacknife, a former runner who has also helped her during the game. Faith and Jacknife battle on top of the shard building, where she comes out on top and kills Jacknife. She and Kate escape the shard building and go into hiding. After the ending of the game it is announced that Faith and Kate are wanted criminals and are being hunted by the police force, but have disappeared.
